The following instructions will help each district to submit the results of its election.

How to Register and Vote

Although the educational activities before and after the election are recognized as the most important part of what the mock election is designed to offer, there is no mistaking that the most exciting part is students casting their ballots and seeing the results. Here teachers can find instructions and materials to enable students to vote.

There is no need to pre-register. If your school district wishes to participate, please follow the steps below:

  1. Choose or assign a District Election Coordinator. This can be either a supervisor or a teacher who is committed to civic education.
  2. Download your district ballot and pass it out to your students (or create an electronic means of voting).
  3. Collect and tally the votes by grade.
  4. Have the District Coordinator submit the results by grade (bottom of the page). If your district has not received a password to submit votes, please request one via the Contact Us Page.

Each school district is requested to volunteer a District Election Coordinator. The only responsibility for the coordinator is to collect the ballots and then report the ballots from each grade for their district. The coordinator may need to submit multiple submissions if your school district falls within multiple Legislative District boundaries.

Schools will need to download a ballot for their students depending on their Legislative district. You can find your Legislative District by town or you can look at the list of the towns within each district, and then download the appropriate ballot:

Districts are free to vote using either paper or digital formats, as appropriate to their needs. The mock election recognizes that there exists substantial variety in the technology resources available to each district, and has therefore tried to simplify the reporting to a single form for the district coordinator to complete. District voting results must be submitted by October 30, 2017.
